| The following has been accomplished
with your help:
RESEARCH:
- An article published by the University of Rochester
Medical Center cited the Foundation as a contributor to the Batten's
research effort. Please give it a read as we were very excited to
see the work towards a cure for Batten's move forward: Understanding
How the Cellular "Garbage Disposal" Grinds to a Halt to
Cause Rare, Fatal Childhood Disease
-The Foundation recently funded a fulltime researcher with Dr.
Pearce at Rochester University for two years. We now have a someone
working exclusively on Juvenile Batten Disease.
- An article published by Proceedings of the National Academy
of Sciences in December 2003 cited the Foundation as a
contributor to the Batten's
research effort. A
Role in Vacuolar Arginine Transport for Yeast Btn1p and for Human
CLN3, the Protein Defective in Batten disease
EDUCATION:
-Worked with Publicist Lisa Smith to help in educating the public to
our cause. We have since done an interview on a nationally
syndicated Radio Show and a television interview with the local CBS
affiliate in College Station.
FUND RAISING:
- We are now able to accept Visa and Mastercard on via our website.
Look for other cards in the future.
-Established an annual Golf Tournament, the first of which was held
at Great Hills Country Club in
Austin, TX. The Golf Tournament was a rousing success thanks to our
group of hard working volunteers.
-Setup a luncheon with Coach Gene Stallings as Guest Speaker. The
Luncheon was well attended and allowed the Foundation to have a very
successful event for our first fundraiser. Gene Stallings motivated
all in attendance to step up and "do something." See the Fundraiser
page for more information on previous fundraisers.
